Trees for Wealth(TfW)
An outcome of years of engagement with ethnic farmers and local communities in the North East since its inception in 2000, the Trees for Wealth (TfW) movement is by far the most audacious initiative of The Entrepreneurs Associates (tEA). The TfW aims to connect sustainable livelihood solutions and entrepreneurship, with climate change interventions and environment protection.

10 million non-fruit trees and 10 million fruit trees by 2030
1 billion fruit trees and 2 billion non-fruit trees by 2050
Launched in 2019, Trees for Wealth (TfW) initiative envisions to plant 2 million fruit trees and 3 million non-fruit trees by 2025, 10 million fruit trees and 10 million non-fruit trees by 2030, 200 million fruit trees and 500 million non-fruit trees by 2035, and 1 billion fruit trees and 2 billion non-fruit trees by 2050 in the foothills of the Himalayas, to impact 1 million farmers in Northeast India and Myanmar. To date, twelve districts in Nagaland and two districts in Manipur have been covered, with a large percentage of saplings being raised by women street vendors, farmers, daily wagers and laborers’ under the ‘Pay Back Environmentally’ program, undertaken by The Entrepreneurs Associates (tEA) in collaboration with Caring Friends, Mumbai.
The movement leverages the unique fragmented land holding system in Nagaland and many parts of North East India where land is owned by citizens and can be utilized as per their desire. The Trees for Wealth (TfW) aims to help local ethnic communities utilize their own resources and take advantage of this status quo which will positively impact our planet.
The Trees for Wealth, while mitigating climate change and restoring the environment; will simultaneously reverse urbanization by decreasing migrations, generate jobs and increase income opportunities for local farmers. The fostering of such a movement will create a cycle of change where all actors involved from the farmers to the sellers are impacted and a sustainable model of profitable farming can be developed.
Achievements so far:
- Under the movement, twelve districts in Nagaland, two districts in Manipur, and one district in Arunachal Pradesh have been covered, as of April 2024.
- Over 30,000+ farmers have been trained and inducted into the movement.
- 7.5 lakh fruit trees and 16 lakh non-fruit trees have been planted, as of April 2024.
- The movement encourages ‘micro-nurseries’ among women street vendors, farmers, daily wagers, persons with disabilities and laborers to generate income at home and train them on Farm Based Micro-Enterprise.
