Launching of Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) in Kiphire
To strengthen social protection and healthcare delivery in rural Nagaland, the Entrepreneurs Associates, as the local partner, and supported by TATA AIG General Insurance Company Ltd, in collaboration with Swasti and CMO of Kiphire, launched a Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) in Kiphire in the month of June 2025. The MMU was flagged off by the DC of Kiphire, Temsuwati Longkumer, at the District Hospital Conference Hall. The launch event was attended by dignitaries and representatives from TATA AIG, Swasti, tEA, the District Administration, NHM, as well as doctors, nurses, and staff from the District Hospital Kiphire.
Longkumer, praised the partnership and commitment of the healthcare workforce. He encouraged doctors and nurses to further enhance their outreach programme with MMU project, enabling healthcare in remote areas of Kiphire, which continues to be one of the most inaccessible areas of the state due to its difficult terrain.
CMO Dr. R. Wapang lmchen, outlined the MMU’s mission, highlighting its crucial role in addressing healthcare gaps, particularly for the elderly and persons with disabilities.
Speaking on behalf of TATA AIG, president, Government & Rural Business, Madhukar Sinha, reiterated the company’s commitment to rural health and social protection. He further emphasized that MMU will enable rural populations to access to health care without travelling in search of health care even as TATA continues to provide health insurance to the most vulnerable groups of society.
Director of social protection at Swasti, P. Bhoopathy, shared the broader scope of the MMU project, including its ongoing implementation in Zunheboto district and the successful completion of the Social Protection Project in Zunheboto and Phek, where over 16,000 beneficiaries were enrolled under health protection schemes.
